At the end of last October I had a couple of anniversaries. Firstly, 30 years ago I bought my first 914, a 1972 1.7 in Adriatic Blue and my dream of owning a 914 became a reality. Growing up in the early 1970s, one of the toy cars we had was a Dinky VW-Porsche 914. Fast-forward to 1990 and I had saved up £4500 to buy myself a sports car. Whilst looking at various different cars I could buy with the budget I remembered the childhood 914 Dinky toy. By luck, reading Classic & Sports Car magazine in WH Smith, I came across an advert of a company in Derbyshire that had just imported 13 914s from California.
