9/14 Drive-it Day

To celebrate 9/14 Day on 14 September, we organised a 914 Drive-it day in the Cotswolds.

We met at the Clubhouse at 9.14am for hot drinks and the chance to look around Cornbury House and at the displays and the Club Shop. For many 914 Register members, this was their first Clubhouse visit and they were pleasantly surprised. Julieanne Kay won the star parking place by arriving dead on 9.14am!
After a briefing on the details of the Tulip route map, we set off – eight 914s and Paula Winchester’s red Boxster, due to her partner David Wood’s blue 1976 2.0 having some running issues that he was unable to get fixed in time for the run.

It was a lovely sunny day for our 56.8 mile (91.4km) tour of the Cotswolds along many really good driving roads and passing through some delightful villages as we headed for the British Motor Museum at Gaydon.

On one road a group of 914s came across a farmer moving his flock of sheep from one field to another. It was a wonderful sight as the 914s were surrounded by the sheep as they walked along the road.

Arriving at the museum, we parked in a line-up in the car park, in front of a lawn that was the perfect location for our picnic. After lunch we explored the main museum as well as the Collections Centre. Following an afternoon drink in the café, we headed in different directions to return home. Many thanks go to Maxine and her daughter for looking after us all at the Clubhouse.
