New Register Secretary

You will be glad to know that the 912 surgery is back in practice

A huge welcome goes to all you patient and wonderful members and enthusiasts alike. You will be glad to know that the 912 surgery is back in practice.

My name is Sam Mubarak. I’ve been a member of the Club for the last four decades and I am your new 912 Register Secretary.

I would also like to introduce Zara, our new Admin Assistant. Zara will be absolutely invaluable in the help that she has volunteered to the Club. She also is a 912 enthusiast and has been around 912s for several years.

My special thanks go to Rowena Purdy, who you all know as being an incredibly delightful and enigmatic person, and to whom I owe this pleasure.

Rowena has now retired from the Register but not from the Club and I sincerely wish her well for the future. Rowena will always have the warmest welcome wherever we are.

I would like to thank everyone from the Clubhouse for all the positive energy and motivation and support in bringing the 912 Register back into play.

I would also like to thank Steve Gillings who has been exceedingly supportive and patient in conveying clarity and motivation to the successor of the 912 Register.

A little bit about myself…
I’m a consultant engineer/principal lecturer in automotive engineering.

I have owned a Porsche 912 1969 LWB right hand drive with a factory fitted electric sunroof and a dog lever five-speed gearbox for the UK market since the ‘80s.

When I first bought the car, it looked wonderful and, being a perfectionist, I have learnt a great deal about the 912 over the last few decades with regards to keeping a Porsche fully maintained on a shoestring.

Owning a Porsche and being able to maintain it to a high standard is everyone’s dream and this is what I would like to bring to all of you and the Club. I understand the struggles, the cost and the frustrations but we would like to see all 912s coming forward dead or alive, and together we will make them run right.

We will have honesty, integrity and trust along with decent help, care and consideration to all the members. This is the art of owning a Porsche.

Currently my 912 is undergoing a full restoration and I will be keeping a restoration diary on the car in the months to come. I hope it will be a pleasure for all 912 Register members to write in and send me their stories, including their highs and their lows about their wonderful 912. Being an exceptionally rare car with incredible rise in values they are a crowning glory for Porsche owners.

“The 912 was launched in 1965 to slot in below the increasingly expensive 911. Its 90bhp 1582cc engine was borrowed from the 356, while its body lent from the 911 itself.”

We have exciting times coming and your input as 921 owners is most welcomed.
This is your Club.

Warmest regards
