This month's news from your 911 2.7 Carrera & 3.0 Register

The 911 Lux
I had an enquiry from Ronnie Zucker, the owner of a 1977 2.7 Targa, as to whether his car was a ‘911 Lux’ model, as it had a number of optional extras from the factory. Ronnie had also seen a 1968 911 Lux advertised for sale, which stated that the Lux was a ‘European luxury model with the 911S engine’. In fact, the 1976 and 1977 2.7 was marketed in the UK with a choice of 911 or 911 Lux specification. Both versions had the same 165 bhp engine, which was essentially the same engine as in the 1974 and 1975 911S models. The ‘Lux’ version however had a few additional options. These were impact absorbing bumper tubes, anti-roll bars, aluminium trims on the sills and around the wheel arches, rear window wiper and tinted glass with a two-stage heated rear window. Additionally, an electric sunroof (coupe) and either a five-speed manual gearbox or Sportomatic transmission could be specified at no extra cost. (The 911 model had a four-speed manual transmission.)
