I’ve pulled together some info about speed cameras. Love them or hate them!
A 2019 poll revealed eight out of 10 people find it acceptable to use cameras to identify speeding vehicles. Cameras keep drivers on their best behaviour and make roads safer.
How do they work?
Speed is measured using detectors in the road or radar technology. Some cameras combine with traffic lights and road junctions. The camera triggers when a vehicle exceeds the limit, goes over the stop sign or runs through a red light. It takes a digital image to capture the registration, type, make and colour and may also get the driver’s face. It will also record time and date, speed of travel and speed limit.
