June news

This month's news from your South West Region

It has been a busy couple of months in R15, with more still to come.

On 12 April, a small group of R15 members attended an evening at InCarTec in Exeter, to better understand what can be done to upgrade the entertainment, navigation, and phone systems in our Porsches.

We awoke to low cloud for our car display and pleasure flights at Bodmin Airport on 16 April but still held our second display with some pleasure flights, although slightly postponed until the cloud cover partially cleared.

We held a visit to the Clive Hoskins Car Collection on 22 April. Eight cars and 13 people attended to view Clive’s unique collection.

On 30 April we had our spring drive around Exmoor and the north Devon coast.

We had our monthly meeting at the Swans Nest on 2 May for a demonstration on concourse car preparation and showing.

We had our annual karting GP on 13 May at Adrenalin Quarry which, this year, was held in the afternoon.

FUTURE EVENTS

WOTY
Day one (9-11 June) will be largely in the New Forest exploring some amazingly beautiful areas of this national park rarely seen by the average visitor, with lunch at Bucklers Hard. The second day will offer the option to spend the day at HMS Victory or the Mary Rose Museum or go on another driving route exploring West Sussex and the South Downs. Sites to be visited include Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit, The Weald Museum, (home of BBC’s Repair Shop) and the option of visiting Porchester Castle. Lunch on this day will be Sky Park Farm, with its large herds of deer.

On Saturday evening there will be private dining at the hotel. The following day will be spent in North Hampshire visiting either the Bombay Sapphire Distillery or Whitchurch Silk Mill, followed by a scenic drive through the Test Valley with lunch at the Mayfly Inn, winner of this year’s UK Pub of the Year, where, weather permitting, we will be able to lunch alongside the river feeding its enormous trout with our crisps! After lunch we will travel back to the West Country via Salisbury and the Nadder Valley. At the time of writing, we still have places available at a cost of £310 for two people including breakfast and dinner.

The committee members would also be glad of additional volunteers, if you would like to get more involved, please get in touch: r15@porscheclubgb.com
