Wadebridge Wheels

Wadebridge Wheels event triumphs over the weather!

Roger Cole reports..

"Even the grey rain clouds didn't dampen the spirits of 1300 exhibitors at this year's "Wadebridge Wheels" held at the Royal Cornwall Show Ground, and Region 15 of the Porsche Club was not put off as 19 Porsche's gathered to enjoy one of the South West's premier motoring events.

This charity event goes from strength to strength with ever increasing numbers wanting to be part of the show. The club area was set up early Sunday morning by Roger Cole (and helper) ready to welcome the Club's Devon and Cornwall members. On this occasion the sun shelter, erected in the middle of the area came in useful when the Cornish rain blew in!

There was a broad selection of vehicles to view throughout the event, with something of interest for everyone. Porsche models were well represented, mainly modern because of the conditions, with one member bringing his newly acquired Bentley Speed. We did allow him to park in our area, but at the edge right next to the modern exotic area. It did attract lots of admiring attention. Members were available throughout the day to answer questions on their cars and several South West Porsche owners visited the stand wanting information on the benefits of joining the club, hopefully we will see some new members at future events.

Some members braved the conditions and had their packed lunch and drink sitting under the shelter, while others went out in search of hot food. Whatever the weather ice-cream always go down well, good comfort food! All attending members enjoyed themselves and in one dry spell at the end of the day helped strip down the stand. Talk of next year's Wheels came up as the Cornish members enjoyed the chance of attending and supporting a local event. Bring it on!"
