Happy Christmas and Goodbye to 2020

Virtual Concours
Many months ago, to replace our usual concours, Tref came up with the idea of a competition whereby entrants create a diorama replicating a photo of a PCGB or Porsche related event or product. Although not inundated with entries, those that were submitted were very impressive. The competition was judged by Porsche Centre Bournemouth who also very generously donated the prizes. The results were:-
R26 Class; 1st Nick and Karey Snook, 2nd Geoff Fields, 3rd Geoff Fields, 4th Clare Willingham.
The visitor’s class was won by Nick Pike, R20
Thanks to those who participated, congratulations to the winners and thanks to Porsche Bournemouth for the generous prizes.

Treasure Hunt with a difference
As I write this, plans are still afoot for the post-Christmas treasure hunt on December 27th so if details haven’t been sent out, assuming it hasn’t been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, please keep a watchful eye on your inbox for details. Apologies if it doesn’t happen, I can assure you it won’t be for want of trying, rather it’ll be something out of our control (I’m determined not to mention ’you know what’ in this report…).

Pub of the Month
Ever optimistic, we are planning to include ‘Pub of the Month’ visits among our usual events for next year. An idea shamelessly stolen from other regions, it will allow us to meet more outlying members while providing a good excuse for a drive to new and previously unexplored parts of our region where we meet for a drink and a chat or perhaps a sit-down meal if that takes your fancy, but this is where we need your help. We would like suggestions for suitable pubs fulfilling certain requirements – a car park big enough to accommodate us with space around our cars, good food available throughout the afternoon (you know that Dorset Region needs constant feeding!), and a landlord or lady happy to see us there, even if we are not all eating. Based on other regions’ experiences, we would aim for Sundays from 2.30pm, after the lunchtime rush, but before the evening sitting, giving us plenty of time to enjoy a relatively clear car park. It won’t be on the same Sunday each month, as we still have to give priority to our other events in the summer months but we will firm up the dates as soon as possible - and we won’t be taking bookings, all we will do is review your suggestions, choose a different venue each month then publish the location and date for that month’s gathering. It will be up to you to book a table for food if you wish, but otherwise just turn up and hopefully we’ll soon have a carpark full of Porsches. Please send suggestions to the usual address shown at the top of this report.

Good Riddance 2020
Finally, I’d like to wish you all a very Happy New Year – fingers crossed 2021 is going to be better than 2020!
