Car of the Month - November 2019

Our Car of the Month for November, voted for by our members during the October meet-up, is Arnout van der Veer's beautiful, fully restored 1970 911. Read Arnout's article on his car and the work performed during restoration.

1970 Porsche 911

A great example of a lovely and fully restored 1970 911 with an upped ability with 911 a 3.0 litre SC engine fitted with 204 bhp at 5900rpm with 267Nm of torque at 4300rpm. The car also benefits a 915-gearbox.  The car weighs less than 1000kgs and is therefore quick.

The car was further upgraded with fitting 26mm torsion bars and a 15mm anti-roll bar. Bilstein dampers were fitted (sport front and sprint rear) allowing for unhindered smoothness. On the road the fluid chassis defines sublime. The brakes have been upgraded with better callipers fitted front and rear, acting on competition Ferodo friction material over 3.2 discs. The interior benefits from a very nice Momo Prototipo steering wheel, wonderful leather classic racing seats and drilled aluminium dead pedal.

The attractions of the car are the beautiful classical looks, great colour and the various performance engagements. It is a very fast but relaxed car to drive thanks to the great torque and compliant but controlled suspension.
