This is an event that we have been part of since 2019 and it just gets better every year, so make a diary date for the WLAC Members Air Day on 3 September.
So chocks away for a cracking day out at the WLAC’s Annual Members Air Day at White Waltham to raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund and Thames Valley Air Ambulance. And to have a jolly good time, too, of course. R19 is involved in the event’s marshalling, so we’ll be ensuring that your cars will be at the very front.
For the exchange of a humble £10 per vehicle you’ll get a feast of displays and events. So, whether you arrive solo or en famille, the R19 Family will be happy to welcome you.
The event has a proper village-fête feel, an impressive roll-call of food outlets, stalls purveying all kinds of essentials - with the usual amenities to make a full-day as comfortable as possible. It’s truly a great day for kids… big and small.
Below is just a sample of the day’s activities:
9am - 12 noon Gates open for exhibitors to set up, R19 and classic car arrival.
12 noon - 5pm Open to the public (exhibitors and vendors should be ready by 12 noon).
12 noon - 1pm Model aircraft displays.
1pm - 2pm Flying display part 1.
2pm - 3pm Lunch break - musical entertainment.
3pm - 4.30pm Flying display part 2.
5pm - 10pm Live band for dancing.
Display acts include, but are not limited to:
- Supermarine Spitfire Mk 19
- Two Hawker Hurricanes
- Messerschmidt ME108
- Tiger 9 (nine-ship Tiger Moth formation team)
- Great War Bird team
- Royal Navy Wings Seafire - anyone who came to Yeovilton will remember this
- Royal Navy Wings Gloster Gladiator
- Royal Navy Wings Harvard
- Royal Navy Wings Stinson Reliant
- Royal Navy Wings Wasp Helicopter
- Chipmunk
- Battle of Britain Avro Lancaster
I can hear the theme to the Dam Busters running through my head as I type this.
This is one event we think will be over-subscribed, so you’ll have to be ready to pull your booking-trigger as soon as this event appears in your cross-hairs.
