Our inaugural Thames Valley Rally promises a route of quite possibly the most gorgeous roads in the Chiltern Hills, all meticulously planned using tulip-rally graphics where your navigator is likely to be more important than the budding Colin McRae at the wheel. So, it’s a fun and inclusive day out.
‘Rally Start’ will be from Northway Porsche Ltd just outside Reading from 9.30am. The requisite caffeine stimulus for participants will be available - along with the usual hospitality we’ve come to expect from one of R19’s favourite ‘Porsche dealers’.
Halfway through the rally we’ve arranged a stop where you can grab a complementary drink, get something to eat and take a comfort break - in any order of necessity at the time. There’ll be plenty to do, plus loads of parking and marshals available for advice and encouragement.
Should your navigator turn out to have the instincts of a long-retired homing pigeon on Mogadon, you’ll have telephone numbers for the Clerks of the Course to help with those moments of “I told you to turn left three miles back…”.
By mid-afternoon you’ll all finally arrive at our secret location and ‘parc fermé’. This is an exclusive Thames-side venue where you will be provided with excellent food and drink laid on by our hosts.
You can kick back at a riverside table over a glass of something cool and refreshing and, hopefully, laugh off any previous en route threats of divorce.
Further rewards for your rallying prowess come in a R19 goody-bag handed to all teams. Admittedly this won’t include a personal invite to take a spin in a Taycan Turbo S but you’ll get a superbly crafted R19 Rally plaque, pen and other goodies.
Thus equipped and by now perfectly relaxed, members can drift away in a bubble of reconciliation and good humour - and not a little appreciative of the wonderful roads we have on our Region’s doorstep.
The cost for this event will be £35 per head.
