Breakfast At Billy's Cafe, Bracklesham Bay

On Sunday 19th May we had an early morning drive from Farnham to Billy's cafe, situated on the beach near Chichester - here's Peter's report..

Billy’s is not a jewellery shop, it’s not in New York and there were more than 2 of us, in fact 12 Porsches and around 20 people. So not much in common with the 1961 film apart from breakfast.

This was the first drive and brunch of the season for Region 29, we all met at the Shepherd and Flock roundabout on the A31at 08:15 for a 08:30 start. This roundabout could be the largest in Europe, it is allegedly a mile in circumference and has a small hamlet in the middle which has a pub with a car park, quite useful as a meeting point.

We then set off in two groups down the A31 to Winchester, regrouped at the Winchester Science Centre car park, before taking the A272 to Petersfield and then the B2146 and B2141 to Chichester. All these are great roads to drive and offer wonderful views. In the case of 6 of our party the back of a horse box also featured and delayed proceedings somewhat, do horse boxes not have rear view mirrors I wonder….

From the delightful Chichester, we proceeded to Bracklesham Bay and Billy’s cafe on the beach for breakfast, where the proprietor was somewhat relieved to see us having reserved 20 places for breakfast! I can recommend the pancakes with sugar and lemon.

We discovered that Billy’s is quite the place to be seen, as both the McLaren owners and Ferrari owners have also had breakfast there.

So concluded our dash for Breakfast at Billy’s.
