A storm coming in from the Atlantic was not going to put a damper on the off-schedule R20 invasion of Bruges. A crazy comment when we were away a month before had set in train a casual drive to see this beautiful cobbled city. Captain Chaos had taken on the mantle and ten Porsches lined up in the morning sunshine, in what was literally, the calm before the storm.
Soon we were enjoying the picturesque town of Bruges with its merchants houses and never ending canals. As the lightly spitting rain turned into a downpour it was time to head for our overnight stop at the medieval town of Kortrijk. We dined like kings in the hotel Daimler's restaurant.
We awoke to the sound of the historic bell tower and a dryer day. A visit to the pretty town of Veurne, near the coast, followed by some of Belgium and Frances best B-roads and the damp was soon blown away. A big thank-you to Chris for organising.
