2 - 5 June 2023

WOTY 2023

It is proposed to hold this event in mid-Devon, based at the award winning and family run Ilsington Country House Hotel and Spa, Ilsington, on the fringes of Dartmoor. (No, it’s not a mis-spelling of Islington!) The team there will be very familiar with our needs having hosted a number of car clubs in recent years and it comes highly recommended. You’ll be pleased to hear that amongst other things there is a large flat car park!

Check out the very comprehensive website HERE. You will see straight away just what an attractive location this is, with easy access to Dartmoor, Exmoor, their fabulous driving roads and a huge number of other features and places to visit. Both North and South Devon coasts are also within easy reach.

The dates chosen are Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June, leaving for home on Monday 5. There is obviously flexibility for anyone wishing to extend their stay. The dates have been chosen deliberately to take advantage of decent weather but also to precede the busy school holiday period.

Inclusive rates will be between £235-£250 per room per night for a double or twin. There are some larger rooms available for an extra £20. There are also some single rooms for £150-£160 per room per night. The actual rate will depend upon the room booked and the precise dates as I appreciate some may only wish to book two nights. The rates include a full breakfast, a high quality three -course dinner which certainly looks a bit special, use of the spa and the dreaded VAT.

Bookings are to be made individually by contacting the hotel and quoting PCGB Chiltern Region You will then be asked to pay a non-returnable deposit of £100 and the balance four weeks before the visit. Anyone cancelling within the four weeks will forfeit payment unless the accommodation can be re-let.

Our initial inquiry was based on taking 15 rooms or around 30 people, which would give us similar numbers to most of our recent successful WOTYs.

Bookings will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Early booking is recommended, as I’m sure you will appreciate that this general area of the country will get extremely busy during the summer months. Please keep me appraised of booking progress by email to r21@porscheclubgb.com.

Should overspill accommodation be required this can be provided at heavily discounted rates at nearby Baskerville Hall! Only joking! It is real but is actually in Hay-on-Wye!

Much more detailed information about places to visit and optional driving routes for the Saturday and Sunday will be published in good time and in similar formats to those used in recent years.

Just as a taster, however, to the north you have Clovelly, Barnstaple, Lynton and Lynmouth, Great Torrington (Dartington Glass Factory). To the south, Totnes, Kingsbridge, Salcombe and the South Devon Steam Railway from Paignton to Kingswear and Dartmouth.
