April Club night will feature a presentation from John Cleland.
Generally acknowledged as amongst the best touring car drivers of all time, John is best known for his exploits as a Vauxhall works driver in the BTCC, which he won overall at his first attempt in 1989 and again in a 16V Cavalier in 1995. There was a lot more to John’s colourful career in motorsport with earlier on, a class win in the Scottish Rally Championship back in 1976.
Having made the switch to racing, he will however be best remembered by many for several years of rubbing door handles and occasionally body panels in the BTCC with the likes of Frank Sytner, Will Hoy, Steve Soper and Tim Harvey.
