Purchased for the nation by the intervention of HRH the Prince of Wales and the Prince's Foundation charity in 2007, Dumfries House combines the architecture of Robert Adam with the furniture of Thomas Chippendale and leading 18th century Scottish cabinet makers. The house and original contents, which include nearly 10% of Chippendale’s surviving work, represent one of the most important records of the Scottish Enlightenment.

The charity has invested heavily to restore the estate so that it could become a self sufficient contributor to the local economy. As well as a popular centre for heritage, hospitality and weddings, Dumfries House estate attracts education visits where school pupils can learn about STEM subject, farming, gardening and well being.

           Continue B743 to Muirkirk
           At Muirkirk join the A70 towards Cumnock
11:30  Arrive Dumfries house (Next entrance beyond the coach entry.)
12:00  Group lunch in the Pavilion
13:00  Group tours.  60min - 90min options.
14:00/14:30 Finish
