11 - 12 July 2020

Glamis Transport Extravaganza

Please note: This event is now fully booked, however there is a reserve list for who are interested but have not managed to secure a place.

Region 2 Scotland North has extended an invite to Region 1 Scotland South members to attend the Glamis Transport Extravaganza.

In their opinion the Extravaganza is the best car show in Scotland. Set in the idyllic grounds of Glamis Castle, it attracts well over 1000 interesting vehicles of all ages - from 110-year-old veterans to split new supercars. If you would like accept the invitation and attend the event, please contact Caitlin and George Joint Regional Organisers of R2 here.

This year will mark the 46th running of the Glamis Transport Extravaganza, on the weekend of 11-12 July. R2 attended this event with nearly 40 cars last year - a highlight of the summer calendar.

Despite not being until July, space for this event fills up fast, so R2 need to get the Club entry form in as soon as possible to secure a good pitch. With this in mind, please let them know if you intend to come by Sunday 1 March.

They have also invited R2's friends, the Ferrari Owners Club, Scotland Area, to join them and make a very interesting stand - they usually wouldn't have enough cars to justify a stand so it makes sense to team up.

Entry to this event is only £5 and includes entry for yourself, a passenger and your car for both days. This represents a massive saving over the public rate. Attendance on both days in not mandatory - you can do one or both days. If you plan to only come on one day, then Sunday is the day to aim for, as it’s usually the bigger of the two days.

R2 will have a gazebo erected as a main base - including a BBQ. Members are encouraged to bring their own chairs and perhaps a food donation for the BBQ. The second weekend in July usually has excellent weather and makes for an enjoyable weekend of lounging in the sun, looking at stunning cars and chatting with friends old and new.

There is lots to keep everybody entertained over the both days, with numerous attractions all day in the main ring, craft tents, general stalls/markets, food halls, car related merchandise, and an auto jumble, as well as the gardens and opulent castle that can be explored.

For those coming from further away, there are many small hotels and B&Bs in the local area. Additionally, camping is available at Glamis at a small extra cost.

R2 will initially cover the £5 entry fee per car up front from the Regional budget, and will then, so that there is no hassle making payments in advance, collect the fee from members on the day.

If you are unsure if you can come or not, they suggest you consider booking anyway - if you have to cancel at a later stage they may be able to give the slot to another member, thereby avoiding it costing you anything.
