A run from Abington services to Drumlanrig Castle, Thornhill. Spend some time at the castle then on to The Buccleuch at Moffat for lunch. Following lunch an optional run is offered for those that wish to take part going from Moffat to Abbotsford House the home of Walter Scott. Timings and routes below.
9am - Gather at Abington Services, on the M74, ML12 6RG.
9.30am - Depart Abington for Drumlanrig Castle, DG3 4AQ.
Take B797 to Mennock, then A76 to Carronbridge, follow signs turn right just north of Carronbridge to Drumlanrig Castle. Arrive 10.15am.
10.15am - 12 noon - Activities at Drumlanrig - coffee, tour castle grounds and shop, group photo in front of castle.
12 noon - Depart Drumlanrig for The Buccleuch, High Street, Moffat.
Leave Drumlanrig estate and cross A76 to get to A702 north, then the B7076 followed by the B719, signposted Greenhillstair. Turn left at A701 to Moffat. The Buccleuch is on the main street. Arrive 12.45pm.
12.45pm - 2pm - Soul & sandwich with tea/coffee for the cost of £9pp at The Buccleuch and visits to buy Moffat Toffee.
Additional run for those wishing a longer drive
2pm - Depart Moffat for Abbotsford House, Abbotsford, TD6 9BQ home of Walter Scott.
Take A708 to Selkirk, then B7014, A7, B6360 to Abbotsford House. Arrive 3pm.
After Abbotsford House the group are free to make their own way home.
