20 - 21 May 2023

Doune Historic Hillclimb 2023

We are delighted to be returning to the Doune Historic Hillclimb this year, on the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of May. We will once again be putting on a free of charge club display at the attached classic car show, and there will also be the opportunity for a run up the hill on a parade lap - giving you a chance to get a feel of the track for real (And then wonder how the top guys can possibly manage to reach 130mph on a single track access road!)

The Doune Speed Hillclimb Course is recognised as one of the sports premier venues, "The King of Hills" in Britian and hosts two rounds of the British Speed Hillclimb Championship and four rounds of the Scottish Hill Climb Championship annually.  The first event was held in April 1968 and Raymond Mays opened the course in June of that year.

The first Hill record was set by Sir Nicholas Williamson driving a Brabham BT21C in June 1968 at 48.84 seconds. Average Speed 61.82 mph. The current record set on 22nd June 2014 is held by Scott Moran driving a Gould 3.5L GR61x NME and stands at 34.76 seconds.

With practice runs and competition runs on both Saturday and Sunday, you are sure to see some good hillclimbing action alongside enjoying our display stand. Spectator tickets that allow you to go up the hill to view the track can be purchased (£7pp, under 16's free) on the day of the event.

We ask that all display vehicles are in place for 10:00am, with the expectation to stay until 4:00pm.
We will be bringing the club gazebo, so why not pack some chairs and a picnic to enjoy the day. The antiques centre will be open throughout the day as well.

The track start line and car show is in the grounds of the Scottish Antiques & Arts Centre, Doune FK16 6HG. Please be there for 10:00am.

If you would like to drive to the event as a group, please meet us at the Forfar Services at 8:00am for an 8:15am sharp departure. The address is Starbucks, Sylvie Way, Forfar DD8 1TE.

This is a free to display event, so we would very much like to show our support in big numbers.
