Much like other club members, fast cars came at an early age, from the posters on the wall to a series of fast German metal over the years. Fast VW, Audi and BMW lead to Porsche a few years ago and I'm now on my third Porsche, a 997 Carrera S which is fantastic, although a GTS does look tempting!  Having been a committee member since 2016 has given me a fantastic insight into the club, its events and formed some great friendships.

Outside of the club the day job is property development - mostly barn conversions in Cheshire and I also own the Trimsport business supplying VW and Porsche alloy wheels and parts.

My Father worked in the motor trade and I was introduced to cars from a very early age. There were always different cars on our driveway at home in Kent and my Dad often took me to Lydden Hill and Brands Hatch to watch the motor racing, where I was lucky enough to watch Ayrton Senna race Formula Fords and also I saw Nigel Mansell win the European Grand Prix.

In the late 70’s my Dad took me to the Motor Show in London and that is where I saw the incredible Porsche 911 Turbo in its Martini livery. Not long after this my Uncle purchased a 924 Le Mans edition and I saw Steve McQueens film Le Mans for the first time. This was the start of my lifelong obsession with Porsche and Le Mans. I was totally hooked although it took me a lot longer to reach my ultimate goal of owning a Porsche than I thought it would.

My Porsche dream was put on hold following the arrival of our two beautiful daughters and various job relocations around the country, however, I finally achieved my ambition when I bought my first Porsche in 2015, a 2008 Boxster Sport Edition and I immediately joined Region 5 where I have made many wonderful friends and enjoyed some incredible experiences.

My first 911 was purchased with very mixed feelings. One of my closest friends in Region 5 was a fabulous man, Mike Travers who was liked and respected by everyone that knew him. Sadly Mike passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly in 2016 and when Mike’s wife Julie decided to sell his beloved 991 Carrera S, I just had to buy it. My dream had eventually come true and Mikes beloved dream car became mine, which made it a very special car that was hard to part with when the time came.

Another close friend of Mikes and mine is Phil Graham and it is thanks to Phil’s help that I was lucky enough to be one of the first people in the UK to own a 992 Carrera S which makes me smile whenever I open the garage door and I still cant believe that it is actually mine.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always had a passion for anything on wheels which became even more exciting when the wheels were powered.  After fifty years of power I still enjoy the pleasure of driving any vehicle but Porsche has always been beckoning me and remains my favourite brand by far. From first seeing the RAC Rally 911’s roaring through the forests of North Wales in the late 60’s, to finally being able to afford one took twenty years and since that time I’ve had almost continuous ownership with the last twenty years boosting that experience through Porsche Club GB.

Involvement in the Club was a slippery slope, the more you do the more you want to do, taking me through regional organising, the 991 Register and currently coming to the end of my second year on the Board of PCGB as Regional Director.

The Club brings together interesting people with fine cars, providing the satisfaction of belonging and a means to memorable adventures.

I’ve always been a huge Porsche fan and as an automotive engineer can really appreciate their status as an “everyday supercar.”  In January 2016 I was fortunate enough to buy my first Porsche, a 996 911 Coupe, a car I have to this day and intend to keep for the foreseeable future.

I’ve been lucky in my career to work for two large multinational companies; JCB and Bentley Motors, initially in design engineering and latterly in project and product management.

Through working for Bentley, I was able to visit Porsche’s Weissach facility where the GT and racing cars are developed; a truly memorable experience.  In 2018 I joined the Region 5 committee where I run the Twitter account and help with the running of events.
