Clubnight at Porsche Centre Wilmslow

Our annual club night hosted by Porsche Centre Wilmslow - record attendance, excellent food and a talk from a racing legend.

The annual Region 5 Clubnight at Porsche Centre Wilmslow proved a very popular evening  -  a record 230 guests enjoyed an extra special night, with “posh pie and mash” providing hearty nourishment.

Celebrating Porsche’s success for their final year of LMP racing, we had the honour of racing legend Richard Attwood talking to us about his racing career. Richard and co-driver Hans Hermann gave Porsche their first outright win at the Le Mans 24hr race in 1970.

A relaxed and friendly atmosphere provided the opportunity for an interesting Q&A session, with Richard staying to chat until the end of the evening; a very big “thank you” for his precious time. Dozens of posters of the famous Porsche 917 No 23 were signed, along with two limited edition 917 and Salzburg prints which were hurriedly framed and auctioned off in aid of the North West Air Ambulance. Register Director Albert Walsh did a splendid job as auctioneer, raising £230 for this very worthy cause. This amount was added to the £2100 raised at the Oulton Park Gold Cup and presented to the NWAA by Matt Staines on November 15.

There were some interesting cars on show during the evening, including Porsche Centre Wilmslow’s “restoracing” Boxster project (which will compete in a PCGB-organized series in 2018), and Graham Saul’s racing 928 (which saw action with PCGB some years ago).
