Tatton Show

Annual Classic Car Show held on 3rd and 4th June in the gounds of Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire.

On 3rd and 4th June approximately 30 members came along and displayed their cars on the R5 stand at this well established and very popular Classic Car Show in the grounds of Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire. The stand was prepared on the Friday; many thanks to Michael Williams for his help and bringing his mower, in what could only be called poor weather for June! However we were in luck as the actual event days were lovely and barring one shower on the Sunday we had hot and sunny weather throughout.

We had another excellent range of cars on display covering almost all of Porsche's sports cars, from front engined 968's and 944's through Boxster's and Caymans to 911's of course. We also had a good range of colours across the cars which made for a good spectacle for visitors. We had lots of visitors over the weekend who enjoyed the range of cars and many having detailed conversations with the owners over cars and the club. Due to the hot weather many members stayed near to the gazebo for some shelter and it meant there was plenty of banter and discussion over club events and the benefits of our own cars.

We kept up our record and once again one of our members cars won a prize, which was Robin and Susan Longdon with their superb 356, congratulations to them once again. All the cars were turned out immaculately and I was impressed with how good they all looked; I can take no credit for my own 3.2 Carrera as it had only come out of the body shop on the Friday lunchtime!

It was another successful show and very well attended; at times on the Saturday it was difficult to see the grass for the number of people on and around our stand. On the Sunday we generously helped a fellow German car fan who couldn't find his display space and allowed him to join our stand; as all our cars ultimately came from the same designer, Dr Porsche; it was an immaculate 1958 VW Beetle in its original paintwork. His car added a little something else to the display and certainly got some attention and we were pleased to help a fellow air cooled fan.

Thanks to all those members who attended and all the many visitors who popped by the stand to see the cars and the many who contributed to our collection for the North West Air Ambulance again.

We will be attending the show again next year, likely to be early June, so if you want to come along please book early with Dave Trafford and secure your spot on the stand; you never know it may be your car that wins the prize next year!
