^{Porkers in the Trough}

^{2015 is the 6th year we have run Porkers in the Trough.  The event is a scenic drive through the Trough of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just to the East of Garstang, running between Preston and Lancaster.  The event heads North through the ‘Trough’ to a lunch halt before returning to Garstang Golf Club, the starting point.  The following year we head South through the Trough to a lunch halt and then back to Garstang GC.} 

^{2015 was the turn of heading south. The route took entrants through Dolphinholme, Dunsop Bridge, Newton in Bowland, Waddington, Chatburn and Downham before heading to Pendle to reach Towneley Hall at Burnley for the lunch break.  Entrants either took a picnic or bought lunch from the hall café before setting off back to Garstang Golf Club on  a different route taking in Read, Whalley, Great Mitton and Hurst Green for prize giving.  This year we had 85 Porsches from throughout the UK taking part.} 

^{On returning to Garstang Golf Club  we had a prize presentation with categories such as:-}

• ^{Highest Mileage Porsche}
• ^{Best Family Porsche}
• ^{Porsche with most flies}
• ^{Oldest combines ages of car and passengers}
• ^{Furthest travelled}
• ^{Nearest Travelled}
• ^{Car of the Event}

^{After the presentation we had over 100 members staying for an excellent buffet.  There was a wide variety of foods available,  and there was more than enough for several visits to the buffet table.  Even after many members having seconds , and on odd thirds there was still some left over, except for the profiteroles!!}

^{We don’t charge and entry fee as all that is asked is for a donation to Rosemere Cancer Foundation which is based at Royal Preston Hospital and where several R18 members and their families have received excellent treatment.  The rally plaques are sponsored by local Porsche Independent 9-Apart and goody bags and prizes (mostly with a piggy theme) are funded from the proceeds of the Mega Christmas Hamper Raffle and the monthly raffles held at Garstang Golf Club.  This year over £300 was raised for Rosemere.  Other sponsors including Ad-Options, Garstang Hotel and Golf Club as well John Harrison Sports , who provided discounted rates for products and services.}

^{Plans are now well underway for the 2016 Porkers in the Trough, as it takes many months to plan a suitable route, find a lunch halt venue to suit all entrants requirements.}
