News reports.

Despite the weather we have had some great events recently - the latest being R7's Yorkshire Porsche Festival at Lotherton Hall on Sunday 4 August.

Our first report this month is the Yorkshire Porsche Festival which was a huge success, in excess of eight hundred Porsches gathering on a glorious morning. Themes and concours events were well supported with a varied collection of cars in the central display area.

The event marked the official stepping down of Carol and Mark Jessop who have worked tirelessly for many years as R7 area coordinators, their hard work was recognised with a presentation on behalf of the members to express their thanks.

The event was well supported by other regions, a sizeable contingent travelled down from R3 along with many from R4 and R5 which was appreciated by everyone.

The event was not without problems, the St. Johns ambulance crew were called into action early on as one exhibitor suffered a broken ankle, there were also several painful wasp stings but the award for courage in the face of adversity has to belong to one of our members, who fractured her finger in three places, but returned to the event after visiting the hospital, what determination!

Your CoG team were working hard coordinating with the venue and all the support groups to try and overcome the problems encountered in 2018, you may remember the perfect weather led to a huge number of members and visitors trying to access the estate and entry was problematic, this year despite good weather and a huge number of entries, the traffic was kept flowing.

Well done to all who helped in making the day a great success. See you in 2020.

The second event this month was a reciprocal visit by R7 members to the R3 North East Regional Porsche show and concours at Witton castle, Bishop Auckland.

Roger Goode led the group from the Wetherby Moto services on the A1, we headed cross country to the Tan Hill Inn for a comfort and coffee break, the weather was bleak on our arrival but as is often the case the wind blew the clouds away and Adam Carey took this beautiful image of the visit.th1-800x599.jpg
The journey to Bishop Auckland continued in mixed weather but on arrival at the venue we were greeted by blue skies and warm sunshine. A great welcome by R3 organisers gave us opportunity to park up together for a picnic amongst the Porsches.picnic-800x389.jpgA small gathering of "Guards Red" Boxsters was coordinated during the proceedings, 986, 987, 981 and 718 versions being arranged for comparison of the changes over the generations.r3-800x478.jpg
Thank you Roger, for leading us there and to all in R3 for making us feel welcome at Witton castle.
