WOTY 2017 to France Gallery

Our Weekend of the Year 2017 turned into more of a Week of the Year.

WOTY 18th - 22nd September 2017

Our Weekend of the Year 2017 turned into more of a Week of the Year. Organised by R3 members Mark & Wendy Duffy who lived and worked near Le Mans for years, they packed in as much as they could for us during our short visit.

We set off from Porsche Centre Teesside, where staff saw twelve cars on their way with a Continental breakfast. We spent our first day driving to our hotel in Folkestone, followed the next day by a short drive to the Eurotunnel, then a trip through France to our home for a few days; the Hotel de France in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. The Art Deco hotel proudly portrays some great snapshots of a bygone era and the incredible history that the hotel has with the famous Le Mans 24 hour race, along with pictures of special guests who have also visited and stayed over the years. With five course meals every evening in our own private dining room we were well looked after.

Our first full day was spent visiting the chateau towns of the Loire Valley, including Langeais, Rigny-Ussé (whose chateau is said to be the inspiration for the tale of Sleeping Beauty) and Chinon, where we happened to bump into some Porsche Club GB members from Region 6.

Our next day was spent at Le Mans, starting with a private tour of the Le Mans 24 Hour Museum, followed by a three course lunch in the Porsche Experience Centre at the circuit, returning to our hotel via a drive along the Mulsanne Straight.

Leaving the Hotel de France with a shiny new R3 sticker in the bar window we set off for the beautiful harbour town of Honfleur, en route to the tunnel and another stop in Folkstone.
