Celebrating 70 years of Porsche at Brands Hatch

Brands Hatch Festival of Porsche 1st – 2nd September 2018

Brands Hatch seems like a long drive from the North East but when such an array of iconic Porsches await it’s worth travelling for. Those who arrived on the Saturday took part in the 70th anniversary photo and an evening barbeque with guest speakers. Highlight of the weekend was watching Nick Tandy take the Nürburgring record breaking 919 Evo Hybrid on track at 192mph, lapping Dan Harper in the Carrera Cup GT3. Next on track was a demonstration parade of spectacular Porsches including the previous Nürburgring record holder, the 956-007 of Stefan Bellof. With plenty of track action from the Porsche Club Championship, and Speed Championship and the Porsche Classic Restoracing Championship there was plenty to keep us entertained. The cars weren’t the only stars of the weekend. Legendary Porsche drivers Richard Attwood, Derek Bell and Nick Tandy were happy to chat with members, and sign autographs, as well as Sam Tordoff, Daniel Harper and the Urban Outlaw, Magnus Walker. Each one of them really nice blokes; one of our members was heard to say “Porsche people are such nice people”. Our members made the most of the day with passenger rides in Boxsters, Panameras and Cayennes before finishing the day with a couple of parade laps in their own Porsches around the Brands Hatch Circuit.
