A POTM in 3 Parts

An account of our tour starting at the English Whiskey Distillery, a tour of northern Suffolk and finally lunch at the Bedford Lodge

On a brisk Sunday Morning the a small group of R12 met for the first stage of the POTM - a tour (and tasting) at St George's Distillery - English Whisky Company.  A very informative tour which managed to persuade most of us that a whisky does taste better with a little (one or two drops!) of water as well as understanding the finer points of what makes a good whisky - if you enjoy whisky then well worth a visit (and the shop has a vast selection).

The small group was then joined by some new members for a pleasant drive through the Suffolk countryside on route to lunch - our departure was interrupted by the arrival of the local Bentley club to tour and taste the whisky!  Our route was English Whisky Company to Bedford Lodge, it was an interesting variety of picturesque country lanes as well as more open sweeping roads to permit enjoyment of our cars - all well within the speed limit!  No comments about who in the middle of the convoy failed to pay to attention to his navigating!

The final part of the group joined us at Bedford Lodge. We started with a very noisy drink in the pleasant bar before moving to the Stables Restaurant - the quiet calm was transformed into R12 at full volume.  Lunch was enjoyed by all at a pace that allowed for conversation both on your own table but also to join others prior to the next course.  After all too short a time (about 3 hours!) we were all talked out and well rested from the exertion of eating so it was time for home. The only shame was the hotel was unable to reserve parking space for us to be together - so not pictures of all of the cars.

A quick selection of video highlights from the day is POTM Highlights - first attempt at a video history - be kind and understanding!
