New 911 GT3 Touring Package unveiled

Combining the same staggering GT3 performance with more subtle looks

Porsche has revealed details of the Touring Package for the 992 Generation GT3, which offers owners the same track-bred chassis and flat-six naturally-aspirated engine, coupled with more understated looks.

While the distinctive GT3 bonnet remains, the most notable change is of course the lack of a swan-neck spoiler, instead retaining the clean 911 silhouette and making use of an automatically extending rear spoiler at high speeds. A rear lid grille with the “GT3 touring” logo covers the high-revving 4.0-litre engine and confirms the potential housed within.

Unlike the previous generation GT3, you can now choose between a 6-speed manual GT sports gearbox or 7-speed PDK, with no cost difference between the two. Acceleration and top speed figures for the Touring Package match the “regular” GT3, reaching 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds (3.4 with PDK) and will continue on to a top speed of 199mph or 198mph with PDK.

Inside, the Touring Package offers more luxury than its sparse siblings, and instead offers the ambience of a classic sports car, with a mix of black leather, dark fabrics and brushed black aluminium consoles. Despite this, the kerb weight remains at just 1,418kg.

The name “Touring Package” can trace its history to an equipment variant of the 911 Carrera RS from model year 1973. This set the trend for a focus on the pure 911 design and a traditional interior finish. Porsche revived the idea in 2017, offering a Touring Package for the previous Type 991 generation of the 911 GT3.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package is on sale from today priced from £127,820.
