Das Feuer makes its grand debut

Thank you to everyone who came along to our brand-new event

Originally due to take place in March 2020, Das Feuer made its long-awaited debut on Sunday. Hundreds of Club Members braved the cold and visited the unique environment of the Fire Service College.

A series of industrial backdrops including agricultural ruins, burnt out planes and stranded ships provided the perfect playground for photographers. Various Porsche’s were placed around the college creating a treasure hunt for members to enjoy.

The marquee provided a shelter from the bitterly cold day with the constant flow of hot drinks to keep people warm. It was also a lovely opportunity to catch up with our friends from HFMC, WEX Esso and Air Ambulance UK who generously trailered in a helicopter ambulance pod which was fascinating to explore and understand how this remarkable and valuable service operates.

Among the cars on display were:

956 -103

The Porsche 956 – 103 was one of twelve customer cars built in 1983 for American Peston Henn to compete in the FIA World Endurance and Japanese Sportscar Championships. It is also one of the one of only 24 surviving genuine 956’s in the world. Vern Schuppan brought the 956-103 from the previous owner, Rob Dyson, and had the chassis repaired before selling it on in 1993. After that it underwent a no expense spared, ground-up restoration to 1984 Swap Shop Le Mans specification prior to the 2004 Le Mans Legends support race.

914-6 GT

The Porsche 914-G GT was a race car built by Porsche, based on the 914 model with a 6 cylinder engine and GT package. This was one of the earliest Porsche 914/6 GT works test cars. The Porsche record car shows it as being without an engine and ‘versuch’ (experimental). In the mid 1970’s it was brought from the Porsche factory by American John Rulon-Miller, who was racing Porsche’s at the time. It was later discovered that the car was fitted with the first 914 engine to be developed by Porsche.

Streamliner 356

One of the world’s most remarkable Porsche Projects. Delwyn Mallet’s unique Streamliner is both a fascinating personal story and a triumph of carefully considered design and traditional craftsmanship. Read the full story here.

Porsche 911 Rally

Ryan Champion, along with co-driver Craig Thorley, brought their Tuthill Porsche 911 over the finish time to win the recent RAC rally by more than four minutes, thus becoming the first Porsche to take victory in the Roger Albert Clark event.

964 RS

The Porsche 964 Carrera RS was based on Porsche’s 911 Carrera Cup car. Probably the rawest, most exciting driving experience since the iconic 2.7RS, the 1992 964RS has reached iconic status in its own right. It featured a revised version of the standard engine, titled M64/03 internally with an increased power output of 260 horsepower and lightweight flywheel coupled to the G50/10 transmission. Uncompromising on the road, the cars come into their own on the racetrack.

964 RS N/GT

The RS was further developed by Porsche in 1992 with the launched of the N/GT with a total of just 290 cars were made which were all left-hand drive. Originally a lightweight homologation special of the 964 cup cars the N/GT was a competition-ready race car permitted on the public road. The 964 RS N/GT had a welded cage fitted along with the standard RS seats being replaced with Nomex covered FIA specification racing buckets. Schroth harnesses held the driver in place with a bigger capacity fuel tank being installed.
