Autofarm’s co-founder recalls the rescue & restoration of five 911 Carrera 2.7 RSs

For many Porsche fans, the RS 2.7 is the 911 – the crème de la crème, the very cat’s pyjamas. Conceived to enable the marque to compete in races and rallies under the FIA Group 4 regulations and based on the 911 S, the 911 RS 2.7 was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1972. Porsche only needed to build 500 to ensure motorsport homologation, but by the time production ceased in the summer of 1973, the company had produced more than 1500 cars.
