UK Premiere of the Taycan

London plays host to the launch of the new all-electric Porsche

The highly anticipated all-electric Porsche Taycan took centre stage at its UK premiere last week in London. Soul, Electrified, a bespoke light and laser projection art installation and exhibition was hosted at the English National Ballet between 12 and 14 December 2019.

The Soul, Electrified experience invites each guest to follow the journey of the Taycan from the original Mission E concept to its electrifying future. An immersive audio-visual experience explored the car through the eyes of the engineers and designers before three examples of the finished product were presented.

Breaking new ground in the best Porsche design tradition and drawing on the DNA of the iconic Porsche 911, the Taycan has been designed as a fully electric vehicle from the outset – creating an emotionally-charged, four-door sports car that redefines the EV.

Electricity and electric vehicles have featured throughout the history of Porsche since the company’s founder, Ferdinand Porsche and the early 1900s. This engineering prowess has led to advances in both Porsche Motorsport – from the Le Mans winning 919 Hybrid, to the brand’s recent commitment to its first all-electric race car in Formula E – to the shared technology seen in the new Taycan.

Like the all-electric Formula E Porsche 99X Electric, the new Taycan is powered by innovative 800 V technology. From the battery to the layout of the electronics and the motors unique 800 V components, Porsche has pushed the limits of what is technically feasible. On the road the Turbo S demonstrates this with the ability to achieve consistent launch performance, and 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds.

Soul, Electrified will return for an exclusive three day showing between 23 – 25 January 2020, hosted at Dock10 in Manchester’s MediaCityUK.
