Record turnout for Porsche Charity Day

Annual Goodwood gathering raises funds for local children’s hospice.

Annual Goodwood gathering raises funds for local children’s hospice.

More than 200 Porsche Club members descended on Goodwood for the annual paddock meeting and trackday helping to raise funds for Chestnut Tree House, a Sussex based children’s hospice.

A friendly and informal gathering, this was the largest running of the charity day with Porsches filling every inch of Goodwood’s world-famous paddocks, while a constant stream of drivers headed out on track in all models of the marque.

Parr Porsche have strongly supported the event for a number of years and were on site to answer a string of technical queries throughout the day as well as displaying a 991 Cup Car, 997 GT3 RS and stunning 930 turbo.

A record 140 Porsches were quite the sight on the Goodwood straight as they lined up for the lunchtime parade lap, led by all-round petrol head and Chestnut Tree House Patron Jodie Kidd.

The day was pre-ceded by a fundraiser barbecue at Porsche Centre Portsmouth where Club members were joined by Charlotte Waring, Community Fundraising Manager, who explained how the hospice cares for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and the vital role donations play in keeping the hospice open.
