Poll position

A major presence for Porsche at this year’s Hall of Fame Awards.

The Motor Sport Hall of Fame Awards return for a seventh time in June, and the various shortlists for this distinguished event have just been announced.

Porsche plays a prominent part in proceedings again, with the ‘Sports cars’ shortlist featuring Hans-Joachim Stuck, who twice won Le Mans in the 962 C, alongside 917 stalwart Pedro Rodriguez and La Sarthe veteran Henri Pescarolo, who shared the 936 with Jacky Ickx in the late Seventies.

The ‘US racing’ shortlist also features Phil Hill, America’s first F1 champion and one of the few men to race Porsche’s short-lived 804, while the ‘Racing car’ shortlist for 2018 sees a heavyweight contender in the 917.

A global poll attracted more than 40,000 votes, the results of which will be revealed at the star-studded event at the RAC’s Woodcote Park estate on June 4th. The evening will be hosted by Suzi Perry and attended by numerous motorsport luminaires including Adrian Newey, Gordon Murry and Porsche’s former works drivers Derek Bell and Richard Attwood.

The 2018 winners will join the likes of Ayrton Senna, Stirling Moss, Giacomo Agostini and Roger Penske in the Motor Sport Hall of Fame. There will also be an Industry Award and an Inspiration Award, which was last awarded to the voice of Formula 1 Murray Walker.

The evening will open with demonstrations of racing machinery along the Captain’s Drive, before guests enjoy a Champagne and canape reception followed by a three-course meal.

With PCGB an official partner for the event, Club members can enjoy a 10 percent saving on tickets for the evening. To apply, please email admin@porscheclubgb.com with your membership details to request the necessary code and registration details.
