Porsche Club has just returned from the 2016 NEC Classic Motor show. We would like to thank the thousands of enthusiasts who spent time on the Club’s stand and extend a very warm welcome to all those who became Club members, it’s great to have you with us!
One of the stars of the Club’s stand, and indeed the show, was a 1973 Gulf Blue Carrera 2.7 RS Lightweight, provided by James Cottingham and DK Engineering. Often described as the ultimate road/race RS, this example weighs in at a mere 920kg.
It is one of only 17 RHD M471 ‘Lightweights’ produced, but even more importantly this is one of only 4 ‘First 500’ examples in RHD.
Another popular car on the Club’s stand was Membership Secretary Chris Sweeting’s 1999 Boxster 986, which was presented in fantastic condition. Chris was on-hand to offer tips and advice to those looking for an affordable route into Porsche ownership.
One of the more unusual vehicles displayed with the Club was an Allgaier-System Porsche AP22 co-owned by Club members Barrie Birch & Colin Billington. As expected, it attracted plenty of interest with many visitors unaware that Porsche made tractors.
As well as enjoying a discounted entry price, Club members who visited our stand were able to relax in our hospitality area and enjoy complimentary fresh tea and coffee.
We would like to offer a very sincere thanks to the vehicle owners and volunteers who assisted the Club at the show and made it such a successful show.
