911 Targa stamp to be released in Germany

A 1965 911 Targa for just 70 cents!

In the New Year Deutsche Post are releasing a new collection of stamps, which includes the iconic 1965 Porsche 911 Targa pictured above.

When the 911 Targa made its debut at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt it caused quite a stir with its ‘roll-over bar’. This unique selling point was designed to protect the occupants' head area in the event of overturning. The principle was familiar in motor racing and to meet the strict safety regulations in the US market, Porsche transferred the concept to series production.

The Targa won over lots of new fans and the production figures soared from just 10 cars in 1966 to 5,855 in 1973. Porsche has kept evolving the classic car right up to the present day. In fact the latest generation 991 Targa featured on the cover of November’s issue of Porsche Post with an appraisal by Club members inside.
