Introduction to Track Days at Thruxton

Learn the skills for driving your Porsche on track with our introductory days at Thruxton

Earlier this week, we held the first of our first “Introduction to Track Days” at Thruxton. The day was designed for members who had previously never been out on a circuit in their Porsche before, and to teach them some of the key differences between driving on the road and driving on a circuit to build their confidence for future driving events with the Club.

The day started with the usual formalities of signing on and proof of driving licence, before enjoying a hearty breakfast and hot drink to steady any nerves before the classroom session began. This was hosted by Chris Pruden who runs our own track days, along with our four ARDS instructors Colin, Warren, Nik and Richard.

With the classroom session complete, everyone headed out to have their cars noise tested, then the on-track element of the day got underway. Everyone was divided up into small groups for sighting laps with instructors to start to learn the track and get a feel for it.

As the morning progressed, drivers were gaining in confidence and although the instructors were out in cars all day, many people went out on track on their own to put all they had learned into practice.

It was great to see the smiles on everyone’s faces at the end of day debrief. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in trying for yourself, we will be holding anther of these days at Thruxton on Tuesday, 22 August.  There are still a few places left, so book now using the link below.
