Mather leads on points after Shelsley class win

Round Ten Speed and Hill Climb Championship

The Speed and Hillclimb Championship returned to Shelsley Walsh for the second time this season. 15 competitors ran amongst a busy field of entries with fine weather for the afternoon timed runs.

In Class 5 we saw a reversal in fortunes for the two drivers after their last appearance at Shelsley. Taking second place after a close battle was Stephen Jory (944) who finished the day with 35.91. After taking second back in June at Shelsley, it was Martin Leach’s (911E) turn for the class win this time around. Martin’s fastest time on the day was 35.28.

Eight drivers entered Class 4 with yet another tied place among the fastest three. Taking third place was Wayne Eason (Boxster) with his final run of 35.52. Remarkably, after sharing joint third place with Justin Mather at Curborough in the previous round, Geraint Evans (911 3.3 Carrera) repeated the feat and took joint second place with Andy Fagan (Boxster S) in 34.93. Bettering that time by just over half a second for the class win was Justin Mather (Supercharged 924S) with a time of 34.37.

Josh Sadler (RS 3.0 Rep) started the day brilliantly as sole driver in Class 3 with a super first practice time of 35.30 but mechanical woes meant he was unable to run in the afternoon timed sessions.

Class 2 saw Richard Snow (GT4) making his fourth appearance this season while Tim Siddons (991 Turbo S) debuted in the Championship at this historic venue. It was close for the final run with just 0.27 seconds separating first and second with Richard finishing in 37.41 while Tim took the class win in 37.14.

Hill climbing stalwarts David Hilton and Tim Barber completed the line-up with their 996 GT3 in Class 1. David took second place in 32.58, while Tim improved on that remarkable time with an FTD of 31.96 – a very quick time that would sit well among any class at Shelsley.
