The fourth round of The Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Speed and Hillclimb Championship with Pirelli ran alongside other invited Porsche classes at ‘Porsches at Prescott’ on 19 June. With 20 Championship drivers competing alongside the invited classes, a total of 31 Porsches ran on a dry, but overcast and relatively cool day.
As at Shelsley and Loton, in Class P1 Tim Barber and David Hilton were incredibly close in their shared, slick-shod 996 GT3. Tim deftly cut down his times over the day and finished just 0.18 seconds behind David with a second-place final time of 47.02. David’s times were also successively slashed lower and lower until he finished with the Championship FTD – an impressive sub-47 second finish of 46.84.
In Class 2, Richard Snow was also perfectly on trend as he followed the pattern in his Cayman GT4 and cut down his times in turn to complete a final run in 50.93.
Four drivers entered Class 3 at Prescott with Mel Spear taking his 964 Cup car to third place in 51.45. Surpassing that by 1.75 seconds Karl Lupton finished in second place with a sub-50 second time in his supercharged, 968-engined 944. Karl’s final run was 49.70. Producing his first class win in this competition, Josh Sadler used his long experience and 911 3ltr RS replica to finish in 49.31.
An impressive ten drivers made up Class 4 with Geraint Evans recovering from an off in practice and some minor damage to his 911 Carrera 3.3 to finish in third place with 50.25. Improving on Geraint’s time by 0.62 seconds, Andy Fagan took his smartly prepped Boxster S to second place in 49.63. Justin Mather put in two sub-50 second times during the scoring runs in his supercharged 924S. Justin’s final run of 48.85 earned him a remarkable class win.
Thomas Robinson made a welcome debut this season to make up Class 5 to three competitors at Prescott. Driving his much coveted 911 Carrera 3 Thomas took third place in 52.52 after progressively knocking back his times. After putting in two closely consistent times Stephen Jory finished in second place in his tidy, well presented 2.5 litre 944. His final, fastest time was 50.98.
In first place, after two very consistent runs was Martin Leach in his 911E. A near faultless run that would have put him among the fastest three in Class 4 gave Martin the class win in 50.16.
