PCGB Sim Racing Club Championship – Circuit Zandvoort

RDs 9 & 10 of PCGB Sim Racing sees our Sim Racers take to the seaside as they head to Circuit Zandvoort in The Netherlands.

Popular for its fast, sweeping corners such as the “Scheivlak” and the "Tarzanbocht" (Tarzan corner), this track provides plenty of overtaking opportunities and is certainly a contrast to the pancake-flat Sebring.

Circuit Zandvoort celebrated their 70th birthday in 2018. After the opening in 1948, the circuit was the home of multiple Formula 1 Grand Prix races.

The current crop of F1 drivers described the circuit as ‘really quick’,  ‘pretty insane’,  ‘crazy’, ‘old-school’ and ‘undulating’. The Zandvoort track swoops and flows through the sand dunes, creating a rollercoaster-like feel to the lap. And while the circuit has been modernised to include increasing the banking angle at the famous Tarzan corner to an Indianapolis Motor Speedway-trumping 18 degrees – Zandvoort remains a proper, challenging drivers’ track.
