Ullswater and Kirkstone Pass

This is the very definition of ‘taking the scenic route’! No wonder William Wordsworth was so inspired to write his poetry here - you’ll see all the classic Lake District sights along this route and sample hospitality in both Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere.
 
Starting in Ambleside, you pass through Grasmere before travelling via the famous Ullswater lake for a photo opportunity or a splash in the shallows before passing along the heights of the Kirkstone Pass and down through Troutbeck Bridge and into Windermere.
